Once upon a time there was a gal named Dagny from Ohio and guy named Ben from Idaho. The Lord crossed their paths and they fell in love. In a couple years they got married. When they got married, they thought they knew a lot. As each day goes by Ben and Dagny realize that they still have a lot to learn.
The Lord has blessed us with a large family. We currently have 10 children, plus one due in December. The number of kids changes because we are foster parents. We have 7 biological and 1 adopted so the number should not ever be less than 8, Lord willing. We love our kids and enjoy spending time with them. We truly believe that they are gifts from God.
Ben and I were both raised in the country, so that is where we ended up. We currently live in Urbana, Ohio. It took us a while to get to the country, but we are finally here. The kids love being outside and we love for them to be outside. There is always something to do or learn in the country. This is great for us because we also homeschool The kids can learn so much by just exploring the great outdoors.
Not only are the kids learning, but Ben and I continue to learn. We started off our marriage with a very unhealthy lifestyle, but didn’t know it. We thought we were healthy exercising and eating whatever looked good. We had friends teach us about grinding wheat and making bread. That was our first step. We then learned about the benefits of essential oils and we continue to be amazed at the different ways we can use God given oils to cure illnesses. We used to go to the doctor for everything and now that is the last resort. I cooked everything with the microwave. One Christmas we decided that we would no longer use it because we were not convinced it was safe. We learned how to cook with a real stove and we have survived. Ben and I continued to read and learn… Say goodbye to high fructose corn syrup, GMO, sugar free, lowfat, MSG, nitrates, pop, artificial hormones, artificial colors, BHT and hello to honey, maple syrup, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, real butter, olive oil, garlic, organic and homegrown meat. We don’t do everything perfect, but we do our best.
Little by little we learn and make changes to our lifestyles. The more knowledge we get, the more we realize that God has blessed us with so much that is good for us. Homesteading to us in living simply with the wonderful gifts God gives to us and sharing these blesssings with others.
